Corrosion Control Technology for Special LNG Unloading Terminal in Fujian

Abstract:In order to reduce corrosion rate of steel pipe piles of special LNG unloading terminal in Fujian in marine environment conditions and prolong service life, analyzed are corrosion reasons and features of steel pipes in combination with the corrosion mechanism in marine environment conditions. The analysis results show that investment of sacrificial anode protection method is lower than that of impressed current protection method, the stability of the former is better than the latter. So the sacrificial anode protection method is more suitable to cathodic protection of the steel pipe piles. Corrosion coating is not suitable to corrosion control of the steel pipe piles due to complex construction and high investment and polyethylene tape is better than corrosion coating. Therefore, sacrificial anode protection method combined with polyethylene tape is applied in corrosion control of the steel pipe piles of special LNG unloading terminal in Fujian.
